American Idol April 21 - American Idol aired this evening with the remaining 7 contestants singing hits from Disco/70s’ era.Here is what went down.By the looks of things tomorrow Matt and Allison might be in danger.
Lil Rounds:
Performed“I’m Every Woman” by Chaka Khan - Randy said she got the party started but it sounded wild; Kara said she still hasn’t told them who she is as an artist; Paula said it was a remarkable recovery considering she’s been on vocal rest; Simon said he thinks it’ll be her last week, very copycat performance.
Kris Allen :
Performed “She Works Hard for the Money” by Donna Summer
- Kara said he took a real risk and it paid off big time; Paula said he showed his originality and why he’s a contender; Simon said it was original and well thought out and a fantastic performance; Randy said he knows who he is and is ready for the big time, amazing.
Danny Gokey :
Performed “September” by Earth Wind and Fire - Randy said he turned it into something that really worked; Kara said he’s an incredible vocalist and his pitch is also right on; Paula said he showed his brilliance and he has one of the sexiest voices ever; Simon said he couldn’t fault the vocals, but didn’t get any star power from the performance.
Allison Iraheta:
Performed “Hot Stuff” by Donna Summer - Randy didn’t love the arrangement, but said she’s one of the best singers in the competition; Kara agreed with Randy on both arrangement and her singing; Paula said she hit it off the charts; Simon said it was a brilliant performance.
Adam Lambert :
Performed “If I Can’t Have You” by the Yvonne Elliman - Randy said he’s ready right now and has it majorly going on; Kara said he was brilliant; Paula said she felt his vulnerability and said he’ll be in the finals; Simon said the vocals were immaculate.
Matt Giraud:
Performed “Stayin Alive” by Bee Gees - Randy said he didn’t love the song choice or the arrangement, but that Matt can really sing; Kara said it was a solid performance; Paula said he’s staying; Simon didn’t like it.
Anoop Desai:
Performed “Dim All the Lights” by Donna Summer - Randy said a bit of a rough last note and didn’t love the arrangement, but said he can really sing; Kara thought it was a great song choice; Paula said his vocals were beautiful; Simon said it was mediocre at best and was his worst performance by a mile.
